How a Louisville Video Production Company Showcased Product Durability

Nadus Films

In the ever-evolving landscape of commercial video production, it’s not every day that a company gets tasked with creating a hurricane for advertising campaigns. Yes, you read that right—a hurricane. But not just any hurricane; one that could test the resolution of the newest marvel from our client, Big Ass Fans: the Haiku Coastal. Imagine a fan that laughs in the face of salty air, dances through the tempest of a hurricane, and outlasts any of its competitors. This isn’t the beginning of a superhero movie; it’s the challenge that Nadus Films embraced head-on: to produce a video that showcased the product’s durability by designing a set that matched Mother Nature’s destructive forces, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of an epic adventure.

What is commercial video production?

Commercial video production refers to the process of designing a promotional video for advertising and marketing purposes. Commercial videos are typically commissioned by businesses, brands, or organizations to promote their products, services, or messages to a target audience. Nadus Films is a full-service video production company that has worked with non-profits and businesses alike to produce high quality video content that impacts viewers and develops a commercial marketing campaign through a captivating narrative. Commercial video ads can then be distributed through various digital channels, such as social media platforms, broadcast tv, streaming services, online advertisements, promotional videos, explainer videos, and other advertising channels.

What is the commercial video production process?

The commercial video production process may seem straightforward at first:

  1. Concept Development
  2. Scriptwriting
  3. Pre-production
  4. Production
  5. Post-production
  6. Media Distribution

Yet, every stage presents unique challenges to navigate in order to produce high quality video promotions that resonate in a saturated market. As video marketing grows exponentially, our team at Nadus Films approaches each challenge head-on to execute an imaginative video project and bring it to life through ingenuity tactics.

Our Challenge: Simulating a Hurricane for a Commercial Video Production

Debris and rain flurries around Haiku Coastal ceiling fan in a video ad produced by Nadus Films for Big Ass Fans.

The mission was clear but daunting. How do you replicate the ferocious power of a hurricane, complete with 200mph winds, relentless rain, and flying debris, especially when your battlegrounds are the less tempestuous locales of a studio in Kentucky and a house located in Tampa, FL!

Nadus Films and the innovative minds at Build and Destroy, together, embarked on a quest to do the unthinkable, to fabricate a hurricane production. Not just any storm, but one that could showcase the Haiku Coastal as the titan it was designed to be.

The Strategy: Creating a Symphony of Chaos in Production Design

Nadus Films partners with Build and Destroy for the production design challenge of simulating a hurricane utilizing powerful leaf blowers, power washers, sand and strobe lighting to create a studio hurricane effect.

The orchestration of this chaos was a spectacle of ingenuity and teamwork. The first order of business? Winds that could rival the breath of a hurricane. Through a combination of powerful leaf blowers that reached the mythical speeds of 200mph. Next up, the deluge. With an array of power washers, we brought the rain, not just a sprinkle, but a torrent worthy of the storm’s name. And what’s a hurricane without flying debris? With careful planning and safety always in mind, we unleashed a maelstrom of palm leaves, sand, and dirt into the tempest, each piece carefully chosen to test the Haiku Coastal without putting our crew in harm’s way.

The Execution: Filming Through the Storm

This tale isn’t just about the storm we created; it’s about the storm we weathered. The logistics of simulating a hurricane, coordinating every gust, every drop of rain, and every flying piece of debris, tested our limits. Production was a masterclass in controlled chaos.

Originally set to be filmed in Big Ass Fans’s research facility, we quickly had to pivot during pre-production as the sheer scale of water volume would necessitate remediation. Partnering with Build and Destroy, we catapulted debris into the mayhem of the leaf-blowers’ prowess and showered the space with power washers’ torrent. As the storm raged within our created confines, at the center stood the Haiku Coastal, unyielding, unmoved by the tumult around it. It was a sight to behold, a beacon of durability amidst our manufactured tempests.

Our camera, the Red Digital Cinema DSMC2 Brain with the Gemini 5K S35 Sensor and Sigma High Speed zoom 18-35mm and 50-100mm lenses, protected from the elements, captured every moment, every test, proving without a shadow of a doubt the resilience of this engineering marvel. Through the power of collaboration, innovation, and a dash of movie magic, we turned an impossible idea into a stunning reality.

The Triumph: Beyond the Storm

The commercial spots we produced for the Haiku Coastal were not just advertisements; they were a testament to the human spirit’s capability to create, to innovate, and to conquer the elements. These spots have launched the Haiku Coastal into the market with a bang, receiving rave reviews and performing exceptionally well in tests.

The feedback from Big Ass Fans was nothing short of ecstatic. We didn’t just deliver a commercial; we delivered a message: the Haiku Coastal is not just any fan; it’s a guardian against the tempest, a sentinel in the face of nature’s wrath.

The Legacy: Nadus Films, A Beacon of Innovation in Louisville’s Video Production Industry

This project was more than just a job for Nadus Films; it was a milestone, a testament to our relentless pursuit of the extraordinary. In the face of overwhelming odds, we didn’t just succeed; we redefined what’s possible in commercial production. We proved that with the right team, a dash of creativity, and a willingness to face the storm head-on, there are no limits to what can be achieved.

As we reflect on this incredible journey, we’re reminded of the power of storytelling in producing powerful marketing campaigns, and of the impact of visual narration that pushes the boundaries and challenges the status quo. The Haiku Coastal video campaign is a beacon of what’s possible when you combine innovative products with bold, creative storytelling.

So, to our friends at Big Ass Fans, we say: Thank you. Thank you for challenging us, for inspiring us, and for trusting us with your vision. And to the forces of nature, we say: Bring it on. At Nadus Films, we’re just getting started.

In a world where the next challenge is just over the horizon, we stand ready, cameras in hand and creativity at the helm, to take on whatever comes next.
